WAPSO Mourns the Passing of Bill Comstock

Bill Comstock

It is with sadness and warm memories that we acknowledge the passing of Bill Comstock who passed away on Sunday, June 2nd.

Many WAPSO members will remember Bill Comstock, who worked for WAPSO from 2006-2014 and again briefly during fall 2018. Much of Bill’s career was focused on worker’s rights and the Labour Movement. During his career, he worked for the Institutional Employees Union (IEU), MGEU and WAPSO. After retiring in 2006 from the role of MGEU Director of Negotiating Services, he joined WAPSO as Labour Relations Specialist.

Bill loved his family and spoke often of his grandchildren. He was a committed fan of The Voice, and loved Las Vegas. Bill served on the Manitoba Labour Board, the St. Amant Board of Directors and was a strong supporter of Manitoba Special Olympics.

In his honour, the WAPSO Board has renamed our annual scholarship the William S. Comstock Scholarship in recognition of his many years of dedicated service to WAPSO members and his commitment to the Labour movement in Manitoba.

A service will be held Monday, June 10 at 1pm at the Church of the Rock (1397 Buffalo Place) in Winnipeg.
