Local 162/WRHA & Riverview Negotiations Update

Thursday, January 15, 2015

The Collective Agreements between WAPSO-IFPTE Local 162 and the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) and Riverview Health Centre (RHC) have expired. Negotiating a collective agreement is a critical and important role for the Union as a collective agreement outlines its members' wages, benefits and working conditions.

Local 162 bargaining committees have engaged in negotiations with both employers to renew the Collective Agreements, and are committed to negotiating fair and reasonable contracts for our members.

We continue to meet regularly with the Manitoba Council of Health Care Unions negotiator's sub-committee to keep informed of on-going bargaining issues in the various health care sectors.

WRHA Community Team Managers update:

Bargaining has commenced and further dates have been set for late January and into February. At this time, we can report that the employer claims they currently have no monetary mandate.

The Negotiating Committee for Local 162 is Dale Neal, Rob Wilson, Tannis Walc and Donna Jacobs.

As a note, the employees from MGEU Local #220 (many of these employees report directly to our members) have broken off negotiations after three meetings and will be taking a strike vote shortly.

Riverview Health Centre update:

The first bargaining date has been scheduled for Thursday, January 15th, 2015. This bargaining normally patterns with the Allied Health, Technical Professional settlements in the broader health care sector. Those two central tables (MGEU & MAHCP) appear to be stalled at this point.

The Negotiating Committee for Local 162 is Dale Neal and Tara Martin.

How to keep informed:

The best way to stay informed during bargaining is to check this website regularly for updates.

Local 162 members, who have specific questions or require further information regarding negotiations, may contact Dale Neal at the Local 162 office at (204) 925-4120.
